Belahiya border point tense as protesters pelt stones at police

LUMBINI: Tension ran high at the Indo-Nepal border point in Belahiya today after the cadres of agitating Madhes-centric parties pelted stones at police.

As many as 10 security personnel including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rameshwor Karki and a journalist Sharada Malla were injured in the protest.

The agitators had thrown stones to the police by using catapults. Police have arrested some agitators.

However, most of the agitating cadres had run away to the Indian side after the incident.

The cadres of the Madhesi Front have been protesting by using the Indian soil for some days.
