Budget allocation under CISP, CDP stopped

KATHMANDU: The budget allocation under the Constituency Infrastructure Programme (CISP) and Constituency Development Programme (CDP) has been stopped.

The discontinuity follows the Election Commission, which on October 29 asked the government to cancel all projects under the two programmes and stop allocation of the budget for the same, arguing that retired lawmakers cannot carry on the programmes meant for incumbent lawmakers.

Likewise, Chief District Officers of the respective districts had been directed to send a report related to the cancellation of the projects and the discontinuity of the budget release to the EC itself.

According to details sent by the Joint Election Operation Centre under the EC, the release of Rs 850 million meant for the total 68 districts under the two programmes (14 in Province 1, seven in Province 2; 13 in Province 3; 10 in Province 4; eight in Province 5, and 6 each, and seven in Province 7) has been stopped.
