CF hands over school building in Bhaktapur

Kathmandu, August 7

Chaudhary Foundation (CF) — established in 1995 by Chaudhary Group for philanthropic activities — handed over a new building to the earthquake-damaged Bidyarthi Niketan Higher Secondary School in the Bhaktapur Durbar Square area, in Bhaktapur district, today.

The school building was built according to the Foundation’s commitment to reconstruct 100 schools damaged in the devastating earthquake of April 12, as per a press release. The Foundation has been running CG Sikshyalaya project for the reconstruction of schools.

Binod Chaudhary, chairman of Chaudhary Foundation, handed over the new building to the school management committee at a ceremony held at the Bidyarthi Niketan Higher Secondary School premises.

Chaudhary’s father, Lunkarandas Chaudhary, had laid the foundation stone of the school in 1959. According to the statement, Chaudhary opined that English and computer skills should be essential components of education in the community schools and said, “Chaudhary Group is willing to cooperate with the government and the school management committee in this regard.”

Earlier, the Foundation had built and handed over buildings to two earthquake-damaged schools — Balmandir Lower Secondary School and Janajyoti Secondary School — in Kavre district.
