‘Cooking gas from B’desh infeasible’

KATHMANDU: In yet another setback to government’s plans to import fuel from other sources, the two-member team of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) that had gone to Bangladesh on November 14 to explore possibility of importing cooking gas from Bangladesh has submitted their report stating the option was not viable. The report submitted by NOC’s Spokesperson Mukunda Ghimire and Engineering Department Head Birendra Goit has said that Bangladesh can send only liquefied natural gas (LNG), which cannot be ferried in gas bullets in the similar manner as Nepal has been importing liquefied petroleum gas from India. “And the existing refuelling mechanism used by bottling plants in the country is not suitable for LNG,” as per the report.
