GAMCE-2018 to begin from March 24

Kathmandu, March 18

The government of Nepal in association with different other agencies is set to host the Global Adventure and Mountaineering Conference and Expo (GAMCE-2018), in Kathmandu, from March 23.

The three-day event will provide an international forum for the exchange of information, products, and services on adventure and mountaineering, said officials of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) at a press conference held today.

Organisers said that GAMCE-2018 is an exclusive event that will bring all stakeholders under one umbrella to promote the growth of adventure tourism, especially in mountainous country like Nepal where the demand for adventure tourism is high. “The event further aims at reviving Nepal as an adventure travel destination especially as a recovery solution to the post-earthquake era,” said NTB officials.

Along with NTB, co-organisers of the GAMCE-2018 include Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA), International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (ICMF), Union of Asian Alpine Association, International Federation of Sport Climbing and International Rafting Federation of USA.

“The GAMCE-2018 is a platform to know the aspects, potentials and challenges of adventure tourism in Nepal. The event will also provide opportunity to people in the sector to enhance their network and gather relevant knowledge regarding adventure tourism,” said NTB officials.
