PM Oli urges development of skilled human resources

Kathmandu, June 24

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has pointed out the need for developing skilled human resources who could help implement the national policies for the country's development.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of 'CNI Nepal Nirman 2073 BS: A New Beginning' here on Friday, PM Oli said, "We have failed to expedite implementation of developmental projects, even though we have adequate natural resources."

Stressing that Nepalis are renowned across the globe for their hard work and bravery, he opined such calibres should be harnessed within the country for the nation’s development through modernisation of agriculture, industries and tourism sectors.

During the programme organised by the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and Himalaya Television, PM Oli said that the new budget has prioritised national developmental projects, aiming for a six per cent economic growth in the coming financial year, against less than one per cent projected for this fiscal.

"The country will head towards self-dependency only if we are able to expand our production base by opening industries and exporting our merchandises to our two big neighbours," PM Oli said. "We could substantially reduce our trade deficit if we could minimise our trade imbalances."

The PM also appealed to the international community to invest in Nepal without any apprehension citing that the country has many areas for investment.

CNI President, Hari Bhakta Sharma, stressed on the need for increasing development budget by reducing the general expenditure.

Himalaya Television Chairman Lalit Kumar Agrawal and Shankar Group Chair Shahil Agrawal opined the government and the political parties should create a conducive environment that allows establishment of industries and smooth running of businesses.

The programme that is concluding tomorrow will hold consultations among nine groups and come up with a conclusion, which will be presented to the government.
