Murarka elected FNCCI president unanimously

KATHMANDU: Pashupati Murarka on Wednesday has been unanimously elected the president of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Murarka was chosen as the leader of FNCCI without voting after Bhaskar Rajkarnikar and Bhawani Rana withdrew their candidacies. The election was scheduled for July 3.

After Pradeep Jung Pandey was jailed in a three-decade old corruption case in March, the post of FNCCI president had remained vacant.

Murarka was the officiating president of the umbrella organisation of the Nepali business community after Pandey's arrest.

Now, Murarka will serve for the remaining term of the current executive committee that expires in April, 2017.
