Kathmandu, March 19

The 15th national convention of Nepal Engineers' Association (NEA) is set to begin in the Capital from Wednesday.

Organising a press conference here today, NEA officials said that the three-day event will be based on the theme of ‘Engineering for Prosperous Federal Nepal' and will host hundreds of engineers from Nepal and abroad.

“The theme has been chosen to reflect the sentiment and aspirations of the Nepali engineers towards their tireless effort for the prosperity of people,” said Hare Ram Shrestha, president of NEA.

Organisers said that the general objective of the convention will be to provide a common forum for engineers of various discipline to debate, discuss and deliberate their thought-provoking ideas on the cross-cutting issues related to national development in the context of the new federal system adopted by the country.

The national convention, according to NEA, will witness keynote speeches from renowned engineers from Nepal and abroad. Similarly, the convention will also have presentations on different issues like policy and planning, financing development projects, implication of hydropower development in Nepal, heritage management and research, prospects of energy and water resources, among others.

Another attraction of the convention is ‘Energy and Development Expo', which aims to offer a chance for participants to interface with various development projects and engineering products and services.

NEA hopes to attract more than 1,000 national and international participants during the convention.
