NRNA allocates houses to Laprak locals through lucky draw

Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) — the umbrella network of the diaspora community — has allocated houses being rebuilt with support of NRNA to the quake-hit beneficiaries of Laprak through lucky draw.

Houses under construction have been allocated to the locals of Laprak to involve them in the construction  process. The lucky draw was conducted in the presence of NRNA President Bhaban Bhatta and Chairperson of the Dharche Rural Municipality Santosh Gurung, according to NRNA Vice President Sapila Rajbhandari.

“NRNA believes that involvement of the beneficiaries in construction will expedite the building process as they will work on the allocated house like their own.”

Rajbhandari further stated that official handover will be carried out later once the housing

construction concludes. NRNA plans to distribute the houses on October 11, coinciding with the NRN Day.

As per its pledge to rebuild one of the settlements from worst earthquake-hit districts, NRNA has been reconstructing individual houses in Laprak of Gorkha district according to the memorandum of understanding signed among National Reconstruction Authority, Ministry of Urban Development and NRNA.

Foundation of integrated model settlement in Laprak was laid on October 7, 2016. NRNA expects the construction of 573 houses will be completed and handed over to the beneficiaries by October 11 this year.
