World Bank assessing PACT impact

KATHMANDU: The World Bank has launched an impact assessment of the Project for Agricultural Commercialisation and Trade (PACT) being run under the Ministry of Agricultural Development in Nepal.

The WB Development Impact Evaluation (DIME) has been facilitating the evaluation, according to the World Bank Research Analyst Sahil Karpe.

Karpe presented a detailed plan of the impact assessment during the discussion in Kathmandu on Saturday.

The assessment would be reflected in the WB policy about providing loan and grant assistance to Nepal in the future, according to the WB Task Team Leader Patrick Verissimo.

The WB is planning to launch the second phase of PACT as well as a mega project on livestock services and fruit farming, in the future soon according to the sources.

Meanwhile, a WB team is currently in Nepal and is engaged in various meetings with concerned government officials about the further assistance.
