World Bank teams calls on MoAD Secretary

KATHMANDU: A World Bank team on Wednesday called on Ministry of Agricultural Development (MoAD) Secretary Uttam Kumar Bhattarai and discussed progress made by the government in the sector of commercial agriculture.

The Bank is the donor of the Project for Agriculture Commercialisation and Trade (PACT), one of the biggest agricultural projects run by the government.

Earlier, the team had held a discussion with director generals of the Department of Agriculture, the Veterinary Standard and Drug Administration Office (VSDAO) under the Department of Livestock Services and the Department of Food and Quality Control and visited two sub-projects in the Valley, one each in Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts, to interact with the grant recipients.

The team had also met Baikuntha Aryal, Joint-Secretary at the Ministry of Finance.

Experts from various sectors including environment and social safeguard, finance management, monitoring and evaluation and value chain and representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organisation had participated in the programme.
