KATHMANDU: Dr Sanjeev Chandra Gautam is Consultant Psychiatrist at the Nepal Medical College and Teaching Hospital. His future plans include spreading awareness about psychological health and establish an organisation where psychological treatment is done at low cost so that people with poor economical background will not hesitate to get treatment. Here he gets nostalgic about his college days

MY ALMA MATER(S)

I completed MBBS from Karachi University, Pakistan and did MD from Nepal Medical College affiliated to Kathmandu University. I did two years of externship with a team of Cardiologist at the First Coast Cardiovascular Institute/Memorial Hospital, Jackson Hill, Florida.

COURSE STUDIED

I studied Psychiatry.

I was surprised to see more than 300 classrooms in the Karachi University and the huge population there when I first joined for MBBS.

Life is all about struggle and you should be able to tackle any kind of problem.

WORDS TO HEED

Students should be independent — they should not be dependent on teachers or parents. You should be career-oriented while choosing a subject. You should have confidence and enjoy the subject you are studying that will give you satisfaction.

HOW TO ACE IN COLLEGE

Enjoy your work and studies. Also participate in extracurricular activities. Your study is your meditation and you should study in depth to ace in college.
