Abiral Yatra to honour music legends

KATHMANDU: With an aim to acknowledge the contribution of artistes in Nepali music, The Hidden Treasure has come forth with a new project ‘Abiral Yatra’. An announcement of the project was made at a press meet held at Radisson Hotel, Lazimpat on July 17.

The Hidden Treasure, known for organising national-level beauty pageants like Miss Nepal, holds franchise for Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth, Miss International and Miss Asia Pacific World pageants. And about their foray into musical arena, Gopal Sunder Lal Kakshapati, Chairman of The Hidden Treasure, stated, “We don’t want to limit ourselves to beauty contests only,” adding, “We want to create a platform to honour the legends of music.”

With this project, they aim to “change the tradition of honouring the artistes posthumously” as per Kakshapati. Instead, they will pay tribute to the living legends through musical performances. And the first edition of the project will honour the veteran lyricist, movie director and writer Yadav Kharel.

‘Abiral Yatra 2073 -Yadav Kharel’ is scheduled to take place on August 5 and 6 at Army Officers’ Club, Bhadrakali. Eight singers — Yogesh Baidhya, Uday Sotang, Kunti Moktan, Lochan Bhattarai, Devika Bandana, Swaroop Raj Acharya, Satya Raj Acharya, and Milan Amatya — will be singing various songs penned by Kharel. Raju Singh will be the music arranger for the event. Tickets will be available at The Hidden Treasure (Kupondole), Nanglo (Kamaladi) and Nanglo Express (New Road) from next week.
