KATHMANDU: Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala on February 9 mourned the death of her uncle, Nepal’s former prime minister Sushil Koirala, who was among her “favourite people”.

“All my fev people are leaving one by one. Helplessly I watched them go.. RIP,” Manisha posted on her Facebook page with an image in which she is seen with her uncle.

On Twitter, Manisha, who is a cancer survivor, wrote, “I loved him dearly. RIP.”

Along with her, many Nepali celebrities have taken to social media to express their condolences to Sushil, who suffered from chronic respiratory illness and died of cardiac arrest on February 9.

Superstar of Nepali film industry Rajesh Hamal posted on his Facebook page, “My heartfelt condolence on the shocking news of Nepal’s ex-prime minister Sushil Koirala’s sudden demise. I’ve known him to be a strong advocate of democracy. May his soul rest in peace.”

Actress Deepa Shree Niruala posted, “Only remembrance ... RIP shushil da” along with a photograph of her with Sushil taken during a friendly football match between actors and politicians in 2015.

Director and media personality Dinesh DC wrote, “RIP Sushil Koirala! Heartfelt condolences!”

Meanwhile, actress Rekha Thapa, through Facebook page of The Rekha Thapa Foundation posted, “A sad news that made me speechless! Sushil dai was an epitome of simple and honest life, Heartfelt condolences!!!”

Actress Gauri Malla posted, ...Country has lost an honest politician and the new generation has lost a good guide! May the departed soul rest in peace...”. Priyanka Karki mentioned, “Now only in remembrance, May your soul rest in peace.”
