BHADRAPUR: Relief distribution to the earthquake victims in Panchthar district is underway and 21 families were provided with relief materials till Wednesday, said Assistant Chief District Officer, Laxmi Prasad Kharel.

He said Rs 5,000 is being distributed from the Natural Disaster Rescue Fund to each family if their house was damaged completely.

A mechanism is formed in each VDC comprised of representatives of political parties under the leadership of the VDC secretary and the relief was distributed only those families whose house was damaged completely.

But, the office is preparing to deploy officials from other offices as there were no secretaries in some VDCs.

District Administration Office said that 76 houses were completely destroyed, 150 houses were mostly damaged and 319 other houses were partially damaged in the district due to the earthquake occurred on Sunday evening.
