Relief in cash for temblor victims

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs today said the government has provided Rs 8.42 million in cash to 2,111 families affected by Sunday’s earthquake.

In a press statement, the ministry said six people died and 188 got injured across the country in the magnitude-6.8 temblor. Of the injured, 22 people are receiving treatment in various hospitals.

Similarly, 6,973 private houses and 617 public properties were completely or partially damaged in the quake.

The government has provided funds, depending on the degree of property loss, casualties and injuries, according to the ministry. Rs 20.31 million will be distributed as relief in 25 districts, it said.
