Dreams!!!! High in the Sky…

Some one great rightly said, “Dream as if you’ll live forever and live as if you’ll die today.”

Ever wonder why people dream??? I know it’s a strange question but I want to ask myself, why do people dream??? Or let me put this in another way for you, why do we have expectations??? The simplest answer that I can come up with and I keep telling myself almost every day is that if I was totally satisfied and contended with what I have, I would have forgotten the Al Mighty Allah. You guys might be wondering why am I being so philosophical today or is it that I didn’t get proper sleep. Well yes and No….

I was at the Katara kite festival yesterday and I must say that there is something quite addictive about flying a kite, even if you’re an adult. Just standing there with a crappy QR 5 kiddies kite, trying in vain to make it do all the wicked things a professional QR 50 stunt kite will do is quite fun. It sort of sparks something primeval in you, bringing you back to your childhood. It only takes 5 minutes before your kids get bored with it and start demanding an ice cream, but the strange sense of freedom you get in those few minutes when your excuse of getting it ready for your children holds out, giving you the chance to fly it without looking sad - really makes you think, Yeah, man – I am going to get me one of those things.

Dreams are just like kites, it goes higher with every extra inch of tread you release. You need complete focus and if you lose your control over it, it doesnt take much time to take your entire effort and the hard work you have put in to go in vain. Yesterday was a wonderful day, with the kites flying high in the sky and the happiness and joy on the faces of people. There were so many colors all around and people from various nationalities had come along with their families.

Qatar has always been a peace loving country with beautiful people, but with the turmoil and the revolution happening all across the Middle East, I guess this was one of an event which brought everyone together in Qatar and set an example for the others that it dosent take much to live in peace. I start my week with a pledge that I will work towards my goals, I will never lose focus and have an action plan in place since goals without an action plan only remain DREAMS…

Cheers, Alladin.
