LALITPUR: Milan Gurung scored four second half goals as Church Boys United Club thrashed Aadhunik Sashakta Samaj 5-1 in the inaugural match of the Martyrs Memorial Red Bull ‘C’ Division League Qualifier here on Monday. Subodh Shrestha provided a 33rd minute lead to Aadhunik before Lal Bahadur Adhikari levelled the scores seven minutes later. Milan then netted in the 47th, 66th, 76th and 80th minute to seal a comprehensive victory. In all, 68 clubs from seven districts are participating in the knockout event. Winners of the two groups will qualify for the ‘C’ Division League.
AIMS enter quarters
KATHMANDU: Academy for International Modern Studies (AIMS) and the hosts Amar Singh Adarsha Youth Club ‘B’ advanced to the quarter-finals of the first Amar Singh Cup Seven-a-side Football Tournament on Monday. AIMS beat Srijanshil Youth Club 4-2 in tie-breaker after a 1-1 stalemate in the normal time. Amar Singh, meanwhile, edged Pipalbot Youth Club 2-1 on goals from Suresh Thapa and Subash Thapa. Suman Shrestha replied for Pipalbot.
Veterans’ Table Tennis
KATHMANDU: Nepal Amateur Veterans Athlete Committee is organising the third Anu Memorial Veterans Table Tennis Tournament here from May 19. The tournament features men’s above-45, above-50, above-55 and above-60-years singles, women’s above-45 and above-50yrs singles apart from a separate event in the men’s and women’s above-45 yrs singles among those who have participated in international tournaments. The organisers will also fete former players Nripendra Bahadur Singh and YP Lohani , informed committee president GN Sharma.
