KATHMANDU: Spokesperson of the Unified CPN-Maoist Agni Sapkota today said the Constituent Assembly should be reinstated only for a week or two.

In a regular press briefings at the party headquarters today, Sapkota said the CA should be reinstated for a brief time after forging consensus on all remaining issues.

He also blamed the Nepali Congress for claiming that the leaders of the party have remained indifferent towards the most important issue of the country and have been visiting different parts of the country.

Sapkota, however, said his party has been holding talks with UML leaders KP Oli, Madhav Nepal and Bishnu Poudel and Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula regarding the issues of constitution and peace.

He also claimed that his party had never lobbied for single identity based federalism, but were promoting multi-ethnic identity based federalism.

The Unified CPN-Maoist leader said his party was for establishing the identity of the indigenous nationalities and not for imposing single ethnic group’s monopoly.

He said 10 pradeshes model of federalism would be suitable for the country because the parties must have some basis to carve the nation into different states. There are three different proposals from the parties while the CA’s committee has decided on 14 states while the high-level state restructuring commission has proposed 10 states.

Sapkota further said that the NC should come for talks without delay because the situation would be more complex if the parties delayed in forging consensus. Talking about the discontent of the diplomats, Sapkota said all the protocol of the country was being ignored for long. He said diplomats should go through appropriate channel and abide by the code of conduct.
