GAIGHAT: UCPN-Maoist Secretary CP Gajurel today said the establishment faction of his party has embezzled a hefty sum of money meant for the PLAs.
Speaking to mediapersons in Gaighat, Gajurel demanded that Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal furnish an explanation as to how money allocated by the government for 9,000 ‘fake’ fighters was spent.
“The commanders have said they submitted money meant for the fake PLAs to their superiors,” said Gajurel, a member of the Mohan Baidya faction of the party, adding, “We would like to know who the ‘superiors’ are.”
Nepali Army’s deployment at the PLA camps is meant to cover up evidence of the embezzlement, Gajurel alleged. The Maoist senior leader said political parties, including the Dahal faction of his party, are plotting to not to include ethnicity-based federalism in the new constitution. “Such a constitution would not be a constitution of the people,” he added.
Gajurel said the Baburam Bhattarai-led government was against promoting nationalism. “The examples are BIPPA and the 10-point agreement on energy signed with India.”
Deployment of NA at the PLA camps will not bring sustainable peace in the country. “Dahal made a cowardly decision by surrendering the PLAs to the Nepali Army,” he said. “He (Dahal) and PM have betrayed the people and the country.”
