'Political transition could drag on'

KATHMANDU: Central Committee member of the Nepali Congress Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat has said that the political transition could drag on as the political parties have still not agreed on contentious issues related to the constitution writing.
Speaking at a programme organized in honour of office-bearers of Nepali Writers' Association here today, he said although the parties have reached an understanding for now, they have still to settle the disputed issues of the constitution.
He urged the writers and intelligentsia to write fair and analytical articles and opinions that could show the way forward during the present political transition.
Another central committee member of the party, Narahari Acharya, said the Nepali Congress is determined to safeguard freedom of expression while leader Dr. Sashank Koirala called on the writers to express their opinions without fear and inhibitions.
