KATHMANDU: Leaders aligned to opposition camps have alleged the UCPN-M for obstructing consensus among parties on thorny issues.
While, Nepali Congress (NC) Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel charged the UCPN-Maoist of being a hindrance to consensus, CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal accused the UCPN-M Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal for hindering the process of national consensus by engaging more into an activity to make the party financially strong through the aid of the incumbent Maoist-led government.
Talking to journalists at Damauli of Tanahu district on Thursday, the Nepali Congress vice-president accused the UCPN-Maoist chairman as being opposed to constitution, federalism and democracy, while Nepal said so in an interaction programme organised by Reporter's Club in the capital.
"UCPN-Maoist Chairman Dahal cannot be trusted as he keeps on changing his words," said the former PM Nepal in an agitated mood.
The NC vice-president said that his party is for the formulation of a new constitution rather than focusing on power.
Poudel stressed that the need of the hour is to hold fresh elections and that the way should be paved for amending the constitution and formulation of election-related Acts even for that purpose.
