KATHMANDU: Nineteen different coalition parties have urged the Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN (UML) to join the government for national consensus.

A meeting of the coalition partners held today also blamed NC and UML for carrying out activities to obstruct the new constitution making process against the people's sentiments and aspirations.

The meeting held at the Prime Minister's official residence at Baluwatar, decided to mobilize the people against the activities of the NC and UML that are attempting to drag the constitutional President into dispute by challenging the government's announcement of fresh Constituent Assembly elections.

Chairman of Nepal Pariwar Dal, Eknath Dhakal, said that the coalition parties are also scheduled to organise an interaction to tell people of different communities regarding the NC and UML's obstruction of drafting constitution guaranteeing federalism with identity and constitution with federalism.

During the meeting, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal stressed on mobilising the people concluding that the constitution was not drafted due to the obstructions of the NC and UML.

Similarly, leader of Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party, Dan Bahadur Chaudhary said that the publicity of the NC and UML saying the government was unconstitutional carries no gravity. He added the meeting also urged the NC, UML and other parties to join the government to give a shape of national unity to the Bhattarai-led government.

Chaudhary said the meeting discussed about the anti-government protests to be launched by the NC and UML, and other political issues.

The meeting also decided to hold such meetings and interactions regularly and take special initiative for political consensus to end the present political uncertainty.

Finally somebody says something that makes sense and of course it comes from PMs office in Baluwatar. Political hacks of other parties really are not needed but it would be nice to have sharp coalition to ram through non-identity based federalism. Nepal needs to make the Constitution asap and get on with the business of improving material conditions by building a modern railroad from Kathmandu to railhead in India that will access deep-water shipping point. This will create great export market for clothing and other cheap labor products that is now being done in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and other low-wage countries. parbati lama, Boston, USA
