KATHMANDU: The Lunkaran Das-Ganga Devi Chaudhary Sahitya Kala Mandir, an art and literary organisation, is to honour former minister Sahana Pradhan with this year's Ganga Devi Chaudhary Memorial Award.
The Mandir has decided to honour democratic fighter Pradhan in recognition of her contribution to the empowerment and upliftment of women. The Award carries a purse of Rs. 100,000 and a letter of appreciation.
Similarly, the Mandir has decided to present this year's Saraswoti Samman (Award) to Jeev Ratna Shakya, the Itihas Shiromani Baburam Acharya Sodh Samman to Dr Yogendra Yadav and the Narayangopal Sangit Samman to singer Meera Acharya, according to organisation chairman Basanta Kumar Shrestha.
Each award carries a purse of Rs. 51,000, it is learnt.
Similarly, literature Thakur Belbase is to be awarded with the Nawapratibha Puraskar (new talent award), carrying a purse of Rs. 25,000.
Proprietors of Chaudhary Group Binod Kumar, Basanta Kumar and Arun Kumar Chaudhary have jointly instituted the awards under different categories in memory of their mother the late Ganga Devi Chaudhary
