LALITPUR: Outgoing Minister for Local Development Top Bahadur Rayamajhi on Friday said that management of wastes could remain an alarming problem until our social behavior and system were changed.
Speaking at a seminar on 'Challenges and Opportunities of Effective Implementation of Waste Management Act-2068' today, Rayamajhi said legal provision would not be implemented until our conservative mindsets were changed.
Rayamajhi who is also the Maoist leader said politicisation even in waste management has added to challenges in this sector.
Joint-Secretary at the National Planning Commission Gopinath Mainali stressed for effective and practical implementation of the Act.
Over 200 representatives from ministries concerned, national planning commission and different organisations are taking part at the programme.
On the occasion, Hutaram Vaidhya was facilitated for his contribution to environment and sanitation.
