KATHMANDU: Minister for Law and Justice, Brijesh Kumar Gupta has denied giving any statement that could be construed as contempt of the judiciary.
Stating that the people working in the legal sector were coming to him not with concerns for improving the judiciary but for their own professional interest only, Minister Gupta made it clear that as people were also coming to him with Rs. one to two million to be recommended to the post of a judge, it had raised a question of how could the judiciary be kept free of corruption.
Referring to Nepal being ranked in the 154th position in the list of corrupt countries, Minister said this shows that no institution or body in Nepal is free of corruption.
