KATHMANDU: A Central Committee meeting of the Nepali Congress has decided to dissolve the Chitwan District Working Committee on Wednesday.
The Central Committee meeting held at its party headquarters in Sanepa today has decided to form an ad-hoc committee tomorrow after dissolving the Chitwan District Working Committee, a source privy to the meeting said.
"The ad-hoc committee will form a new District Working Committee within three to six months," said NC CC member Arjun Narsing KC.
The Central Committee decision comes in the wake of the party action against Chitwan district president Bikash Koirala in connection with Shiva Paudel’s assault inside the Chitwan district jail last year.
An NC probe committee’s report had recommended two options: suspend Koirala for six months or hold fresh elections of the Chitwan district chapter.
A group of party members of Chitwan district had accused Koirala of not defending Paudel while he was booked in a criminal case although he was “innocent”.
