Sushmita‚ Sansu claim gold medal

KATHMANDU: Sushmita BK of Rupandehi and Sansu Koshwor of Kathmandu claimed gold medals during the first NECOS Junior National Taekwondo Championships here on Thursday. Sushmita beat Anjali Ashlami Magar in the women’s below 45kg category final while Sansu defeated Bikash Rai in the men’s below 45kg title clash. Players of 26 districts are fighting for 16 gold medals in the three-day tournament. Earlier, former Finance minister Surendra Pandey inaugurated the tournament.
President’s Running Shield
KATHMANDU: The third Kathmandu District School-level President’s Running Shield is set to kick off here from May 2. The four-day event, organised by Kathmandu District Sports Development Committee, features athletics and volleyball tournaments. Athletics offers 20 gold medals while volleyball will have two. Team champions will be decided on the total points earned from both athletics and volleyball. Top three players in athletics will earn five, three and two points, while top three teams in volleyball will be awarded with 10, seven and five points respectively.
KCC, HIST advance to final
LALITPUR: Kantipur City College (KCC) and Himalayan Institute of Science and Technology (HIST) advanced to the PU Football Tournament final at the Buddhi Bikash Khel Mandal on Thursday. Man-of-the-match Nischal Rai scored four goals as KCC trounced Nepal Institute of Health Science 8-0. Tara Magar added a brace, while Raju Thapa and Rajanish Pradhan struck one each for KCC. Meanwhile, HIST beat Kantipur International College 2-0 on goals from Dhruba Raj Karki and Sanjay Raut. The final is on Sunday.
