Around 150 women from 80 cooperatives from Mechi to Mahakali are participating in the gathering.

KATHMANDU: A national gathering of women involved in cooperatives sector kicked off in the capital from today.


The objective of the gathering is to make the motto of cooperatives- economic and social development, entrepreneurship and literacy- meaningful.


Around 150 women from 80 cooperatives from Mechi to Mahakali are participating in the gathering. Expansion of market for products based on micro entrepreneurship is also an objective of the gathering, it is learnt.


Inaugurating the gathering, Co-Chairman of the National Cooperatives' Development Board Saroj Kumar Sharma discussed about the techniques of market management, promotion of inter cooperatives business, empowerment of poor women and upliftment of conflict –hit women.


The gathering is organized by Women Entrepreneurs Consumers Cooperatives Ltd. that was established just last year. Now around 55,000 women are associated with it.
