KATHMANDU: Two climbers have lost their lives while thirteen tourists are said to be missing following an avalanche at Mount Manaslu in Gorkha district on Sunday.
"Two dead bodies have been found. One is of a Nepali and other is of a German climber," said DSP Basanta Bahadur Kunwar while talking to Avenues TV over phone.
Though twelve tourists have been rescued, thirteen tourists from Italy , Germany, France are still missing in avalanche which occurred at the 2 and 3 number base camp, Kunwar said.
"The disaster took place at the height of 6000-7000 meters."
Injured have been rescued while the missing are being searched, Kunwar further said.
"Five injured have been already airlifted to Kathmandu."
It has been also learnt that five helicopters have been deployed to carry out the rescue operation.
The identification of the injured and missing is yet to be ascertained.
