BAJURA: Lives of two women – Pramila Bhandari (30) and Nani Budhthapa – who were suffering from labour pain - were saved after they were airlifted from their home in remote district Bajura to Surkhet on Tuesday.
Pramila and Nani of Rugin VDC were undergoing labour pain for the last two days. They had to be taken to Surkhet as they had to undergo caesarian which facility Rugin Health Post could not provide.
They were airlifted at the initiation of District Health Office, Bajura, Pariwar Mahashakha, Kathmandu and Unicef, Nepal, bearing the cost of Rs 3 lakh, according to District Health Office, Bajura.
As many as five women have lost their lives during delivery due to the lack of skilled medical persons and hospitals in six months in the district, said District Health Office, Bajura.
Bajura District Health Office is without medical persons for the last three weeks.
Rugin VDC is about three days’ walk from district headquarters Martadi.
