21 houses gutted in Nawalparasi village

PARASI: As many as 21 houses and sheds were gutted today afternoon when a huge fire engulfed Raksawal village in Amaraut, Nawalparasi, police said.
According to the police sources, property worth Rs 2 million was gutted in the blaze that was triggered by an electric short circuit at an electricity pole near the house of a local Ayodhya Pal. Soon the fire had spread to other houses and sheds of seven families in the neighbourhood.
Houses and cowsheds belonging to Ramji Pal, Badari Pal, Hari Pal and others were destroyed in the fire, while a large swathe of wheat plantation worth Rs 1 lakh was reduced to ashes. Nepal Red Cross society provided tents and food stuffs to the fire victims in the evening.
Similarly, in Kapilbastu fire destroyed five houses and sheds in Sisawa VDC today afternoon. Police said property worth Rs 1 million was gutted. Sources say the fire started from the house of a local Mahor Pasi. Police with the help of locals extinguished the fire later.
