KATHMANDU: As part of its ‘seal and search operation targeted at criminal elements, Metropolitan Police Range Hanumandhoka today arrested 38 suspects, including drug smugglers and those with criminal history, in the Kathmandu Valley.
The operation launched simultaneously in 42 crime-prone areas, including Kalanki, Kalimati, Durbarmarga, Koteswor, Maharajgunj, Kamalpokhari, Chabahil, Samakhusi, Swayambhu, Gaushala, Ratopool, Naya Baneshwor, Anamnagar, Teku, Lainchaur and Balaju, was meant to net criminal groups and accomplices, SP Jaya Bahadur Chanda, the Hanumandhoka police chief.
Chanda said police personnel thoroughly checked people in the crime-prone areas after securing them using ropes. Police expressed confidence the technique will be useful in netting criminal elements.
