A sign of maturity

Along side a person’s physical and emotional development comes the first sign of maturity. This indicates a coming of age when he is able to think and pay heed to special interests, so that he can tackle problems and solve them.

An individual matures sooner or later and this means added responsibilities to a social life. He soon realizes that assuming a role has maturity blended into it. This realization strikes him hard when he is most vulnerable and may leave him high and dry. It could mean breaking loose from the inner circle and contributing where his services and energies are needed.

All the signs point to a growing maturity attuned to the moment. This proves beyond a shadow of doubt his ability to face the gauntlet. Nothing stands in the way, of course, from going off on a tangent and deviate from the norm.

The stature of a man gives a hefty meaning and, that is, of having reached a certain stage even if it means falling down to get up again. There is no special effect here only a sensible well-thought out pre-disposition to manhood. In its absence there is no commitment to making amends only a mix of values, attitudes and mindset.

Due thought is given over to an initiate and points to a thawing out with kith and kin. Any fears founded on the belief that something is amiss is shunted aside. Lying ahead are signs of becoming a full-fledged member of society and conjure up a life to be led.

When it’s ripe for a reckoning then it’s a moment to assert oneself — cocooned and under wraps. This adds and abets and is not a long drawn out process. It may not be easy to shape and mould expectations but there is no choice. Any attempt to growing up in the pre-maturity phase only meets with disappointment. The moment at hand reveals the trial to be undergone. And strikes the right chord. Carving a niche thus becomes important and is a voyage of self-discovery. Only then will it give a meaning to existence and clear the way for more of the same.

Reaching manhood has difficult choices and decisions to be made on the spur-of-the moment. And doing away with the vestiges of an earlier life. Allowing for more space and freedom to do as one likes.

Adulthood means reaching maturity and all the signs are there in firm handshakes, bear hugs and a pat on the back. It is a phase in one’s life that brings good cheer, a toast to one’s health and a schedule keeping one busy over to the weekend. A time and season spent in splurging and wallowing around. And trying to fit in with the jostling, noisy crowd which is an encounter of a different kind.
