KATHMANDU: Nepal registered its second consecutive victory in the Group B match of ACC U-16 Elite Cup played at the Kinrara Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Sunday by defeating Bahrain by eight wickets.
In the 40 overs a side match, Bahrain won the toss and chose to bat. They were restricted to 141 runs at the cost of all wickets off 39.5 overs.
With two maiden overs, Nepal’s Akash Bista claimed three wickets giving meagre 14 runs. Kalicharan Yadav and Rupesh Bastola took two wickets each.
With the help of 12 fours, Nepal’s opener Dipendra Chand made 75 runs off 69 and his opening partner Nurdhoj Sen contributed 41 off 58. Sen hit six fours.
Nepal consecutively lost both the openers in the last delivery of 21st over and the first of 22nd over when the score was 138. Aadil Khan hit a four as the winning shot in the first delivery he faced 21.2 overs.
Chand was declared the man of the match for his outstanding performance.
Nepal had defeated Kuwait by 78 runs in the opening match on Friday.
