KATHMANDU: Nepal lost to the hosts Malaysia in the final of ACC U-16 Elite Cup at the Kinrara Oval in Kuala Lumpur by one wicket on Sunday.
Electing to bat first, Nepal were restricted to 117 runs in 33 overs. Malaysia’s S. Goonasagar claimed three Nepali wickets giving 27 runs. Akash Bista scored 35 runs for Nepal.
In the 40-overs-a-side match, Malaysia met the target in 39.1 overs making 120 runs at the cost of nine wickets.
Virandeep Singh made an unbeaten 55 runs to help his team lift the first ACC U-16 Elite Cup. He was declared the man of the match.
Nepal had defeated Malaysia by a wicket in their last group match.
