LALITPUR: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) today announced a 30-member squad for the AFC Under-22 Asian Cup Group ‘D’ Qualifiers to be held here from June 2.

The football governing body axed out 20 players from the preliminary squad. The squad — which will now undergo second round of selection — consists of four goalkeepers, nine defenders, 11 midfielders and six forwards.

Among the selected players were Bikesh Kuthu, Bishal Shrestha, Amrit Kumar Chaudhary, Dinesh Thapa Magar, Sabindra Shrestha, Bikash Singh Chhetry, Rabin Shrestha, Deepak Bhusal, Palsang Lama, Ajit Bhandari, Prabin Sainju and Rabi Thapa.

Also making the cut were Shiva Shrestha, Roshan Lamichhane, Prabin Karki, Ganesh Khadka, Rupesh KC, Sulav Maskey, Anil Ojha, Bharat Khawas, Sujal Shrestha, Amir Shrestha, Ashim Jung Karki, Buddha Chemjong, Jangbu Sherpa, Sushil KC, Santosh Tamang and Bishal Rai.

Meanwhile, winger Jagjit Shrestha, who has been serving a one-month suspension, will join the team later along with defender Rohit Chand. Rohit is currently playing in the i-league.

Nepal are pitted against Uzbekistan, Yemen, Jordan and Bangladesh in the inaugural edition of the 11-day tournament.
