NEPALGUNJ: Rajesh Kumar Pokharel, acting director of the Mid-western Grahmin Bikash Bank, died while three staffers of the bank got injured on Thursday night, when the jeep they were riding on skidded off the road in Banke’s Kusum. Among the injured, officer Prakash KC of Nepalgunj-13 has been referred to Kathmandu for further treatment and jeep driver Krishna Sunar of Nepalgunj-2 have been taken to Lucknow for the treatment. Another staffer, Mukunda Adhikari of Nepalgunj-5, has sustained minor injuries.

Two killed in

NAWALPARASI/ILAM: Two people were killed in two separate road accidents in Nawalparasi and Ilam on Friday. Bhim Nepali(19) died when a jeep he was on fell off the road at Bulintar, Nawalparasi. Sundar Dhamala (20) lost his life when the tractor he was on in skidded off the road in Golakharka, Ilam. Tractor driver Anil Baskota was injured in the accident and receiving treatment at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. –

Landslip kills minors

SINDHUPALCHOWK: Rabikiran Karki (12), Samikshya Karki(9) and Srijana Khatri (15) were buried in a landslip at Paudelthok in Bhotechaur VDC, Sindhupalchowk, on Friday. Locals however manged to rescue Rasmita Karki(7) and Arpana Khatri (8), who were accompanying the deceased. –

Campus padlocked

MAHENDRANAGAR: All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) members padlocked Mahendranagar-based Siddhanath Multiple Campus on Friday, demanding that lecturer Khagendra Joshi, who allegedly beat students in his class, apologise and the administration take action against him.


Tusker kills man

DHARAN: Dhan Bahadur Shrestha(65) was killed in a wild elephant attack at Panchkanya VDC, Sunsari, on Thursday night. Police said Shrestha was sleeping in his home when the incident took place. Dhan Bahadur’s son Bhola said the body was found in a maize field near their home. Five people have died in tusker attacks in the village in the past decade.
