KATHMANDU: Hosts Ace Institute of Management, defending champions Rupy’s International, Lumbini International College and Kathmandu International Studies Centre (KISC) advanced to the boys’ semi-finals of the third Ace Inter ‘A’ Level Basketball Championships on Saturday. Ace hammered Rato Bangala 52-35 and Rupy’s beat The British College 53-40. Lumbini edged GEMS 46-42 and KISC beat AJW College 49-30. Rato Bangala saw off Ace 24-20 and Rupy’s beat KU High School 30-20 in girls’ round robin league.
KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastriya Higher Secondary School, Namuna Machhindra and Modern Indian School won their respective girls’ section matches of the Coca-Cola Cup Inter-school National Football Tournament Qualifiers on Saturday. Nepal Rastriya defeated Chantal Moudi School 2-0 and Namuna Machhindra edged Madan Bhandari Memorial School 1-0. Modern Indian beat Mahendra Bouddha 4-3 in tie-breaker.
Pakistan team arrives
KATHMANDU: Pakistan national football team on Saturday arrived here for the eighth SAFF Championship scheduled for August 31 to September 11. Pakistan is the first team to land for the event. Nepal national team, which is wrapping its three-week long Gulf Tour with a match against Fahahil Sporting Club of Kuwait late on Saturday, will return home on Sunday evening.
Mt Glory champs
KATHMANDU: Mt Glory claimed the Universal Challenge Cup Inter-school 3x3 Boys Basketball Tournament with a 16-6 rout of Kathmandu English School here on Saturday. Tournament MVP Dipesh Tamang posted eight points in Mt Glory’s final victory. Shankar won the highest scorer’s trophy.
