The government has prepared the drafts of both the partial and the full budget and will bring the one that garners consensus: Mahato

KATHMANDU: All party meeting held at the International Convention Centre on Tuesday has hit a snag after the opposition parties demanded Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai’s resignation as a precondition of a consensus government and the issue of budget.

Unified CPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had called the meeting to dwell on the issue of budget and consensus government after the political parties boycotted the all party meeting called by Prime Minister Bhattrai on Tuesday morning. The meeting had started at 4 pm today.

Emerging from the meeting Nepali Congress leader Ram Sharan Mahat said the caretaker government can bring only one third budget, adding “It will suffice until the election slated for November 22.” He further said that only the national consensus government can bring the full budget.

Speaking on the occasion, CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal said Prime Minister should step down paving the way for the consensus government, a source said.

Chairman of Nepal Sadbhavana Party (Anandidevi) Rajendra Mahato stressed on the need to forge consensus not only to promulgate the budget but also to resolve the unsettled issues of the constitution. He revealed that the government has prepared the drafts of both the partial and the full budget and will bring the one that garners consensus.

Most of the leaders present in the meeting harped on the consensus, hinting the promulgation of one third of the full budget.
