KATHMANDU: Dibya Amatya won the German Ambassador’s Farewell Golf Tournament here at Gokarna Golf Course today.
Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, Amatya — playing of 10 handicap — scored 37 points to earn a two-stroke win over Wangchen Dhondup. Dhondup, playing of two handicap, scored 35 points. Norbu Sherpa posted 34 points to finish third.
Tendi Sherpa claimed the closest-to-the-pin award and Hridesh Singh bagged longest-drive honour. A total of 60 golfers took part in a tournament organised to bid farewell to Verena Grafin Von Roedern, the German Ambassador who is completing her tenure in Nepal next month. An avid golfer Von Roedern was a regular at the Gokarna Golf Club for her weekend rounds.
On the occasion, senior lady golfer Dr Rita Thapa handed over a token of love on behalf of Gokarna Golf Club to the German Ambassador Von Roedern.
