Appa Sherpa's team arrives in Bajhang

BAJHANG: A four-member team headed by mountaineer Appa Sherpa arrived in Bajhang today on the 92nd day of the ‘Great Himalayan Trial Climate Celebrity Trek’.

Appa, who scaled Mt Everest 21 times, arrived in the district after trekking in 21 districts. He said his team is trekking to draw the attention of the world about the impact of global climate change and other environmental effects on the mountains.

Stressing on need to make the mid and far western region of the country tourist-friendly, Appa said that the tourism could be one of the means for the economic development of this region. He suggested the concerned to develop necessary infrastructure for the development of tourist trade in the region.

Appa’s team will leave for Darchula on Monday which is said to be the last district of their trail. The trek is likely to be concluded on May 13.
