LALITPUR: Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) defended the title of the fourth Nakhipot Nationwide Open Men’s Volleyball Championship here today.
In the rematch of last year’s final, the armymen defeated Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club 3-2. TAC won the first set 25-19 but APF hit back winning the second and third set 25-18, 25-23 to take a surprise 2-1 lead.
TAC won the fourth set 25-21 before cruising to victory outplaying APF 15-5 in the final set. TAC pocketed Rs 60,000 and APF got Rs 30,000. Kavre Volleyball Club received a walkover from Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Centre in the third place playoff match and earned Rs 20,000.
Milan Malla of APF was adjudged the best player and received Rs 8,000. Bhoj Bahadur Thapa and Raju Thapa of TAC were declared the best spiker and lifter respectively, while APF’s Pushpa Raj Malla was named the best defender.
