KATHMANDU: Youth Federation Nepal today promoted Parashu Ram Basnet, the brains behind the June 5, 2011 attack on journalist Khilanath Dhakal in Biratnagar, to central member of the federation. The national level meeting of the federation held in the Capital today also promoted 18 others to central members.
Meanwhile, the federation has announced to confiscate vehicles that the government has provided to former bigwigs as part of its 10-day protest starting tomorrow. At a press meet held today to announce the protest, the federation said it will organise mass meetings in the Kathmandu Valley tomorrow. Other programmes include half-hour demonstrations in Baneswor at 4 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday. According to a press release, the federation will enforce half-hour chakkajam in all 75 districts on August 2, 3 and 4. The protest also includes a four-hour Nepal bandh from 6-10 am on August 7 and 8. Speaking at the press meet, YFN president Mahesh Basnet said a wave of protest is the best course at a time when a broad-based political consensus seems impossible.
