"Australian government has provided Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) Rs 8.2 million to conduct a joint forum for major human rights NGOs in Nepal"

KATHMANDU: Australian government has provided Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) Rs 8.2 million under its global Human Rights Grants Scheme to conduct a joint forum for major human rights NGOs in Nepal on Monday.

With this grant, INSEC will also coordinate human rights monitoring and reporting, both domestically and internationally, Australian Embassy said in a statement issued today.

INSEC was founded in 1988 with the objective of protecting the rights of people engaged in informal sectors such as agricultural laborers, conflict victims, underprivileged women, and socially discriminated people including Dalits and children.

Australia remains committed to supporting Nepal's human rights agenda and urges all parties

to ensure the transitional justice mechanisms in compliance with international law.

The Australian Government has announced an estimated NPR 2 billion for official development assistance to Nepal in 2011-12.
