KATHMANDU: BBC Banepa and Buddhi Bikash Khel Mandal advanced to the quarter-finals of the Martyrs' Memorial Red Bull ‘C’ Division League Qualifier from Group ‘B’ here on Thursday. Jay Ram Manandhar scored a hat-trick, while Sansar Nanda Palanchowke and Udit Shrestha struck one each as BBC Banepa thrashed New Era Sports Club 5-2. Dipendra Pariyar scored both the goals for New Era. Buddhi Bikash, meanwhile, dispatched Gorkha Boys Club of Butwal 3-0 on goals from Hemant Shrestha, Ajay Pun and Umesh Karki.

SCAZ Meet begins

KATHMANDU: Asian Handball Federation Meeting for the Under-developed Countries in South Central Asian Zone (SCAZ) began here on Wednesday. Asian Handball Federation President Dr Ahmed Abu Al Lail from Kuwait and representatives from Nepal, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan and Yemen are participating in the two-day meeting, informed the Nepal Handball Association. This is the first time Nepal is hosting an international meeting of handball.

ANLTA adds event

LALITPUR: The All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association (ANLTA) has included the Boris Lissanevitch Memorial Junior Tennis Tournament in their annual calendar. The inaugural edition of the tournament is scheduled here for June 3-9. The tournament features five age-group categories each in boys' and girls' sections -- U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-18. The tennis governing body also informed that a player can only participate in two events. The organisers are expecting around 150 players in the tournament supported by ANLTA. —
