BAGLUNG: A goodwill rally was organised in Baglung saying the bandh and general strikes called by various ethnic groups might disturb the ethnic and social harmony while the date for promulgation of constitution was nearing.
Hundreds of people including the members of the civil society, political parties, professional organisations, industrial entrepreneurs, legal practitioners, ethnic and religious organisations, students and others had participated in the rally.
The participants went through various parts of the district headquarters, Baglung bazaar, carrying placards demanding that ethnic harmony and national integrity be maintained and converged into corner assembly after the rally reached Loktantrik Chowk.
Speaking at the programme, Ram Sharma, Coordinator of the Advocacy Forum, Dhaulagiri, said the goodwill rally had been organised with a view to maintaining social harmony.
Vice chairperson of the Nepal Teachers' Union Shakuntala Sharma, Chairman of Chamber of Commerce and Industries Basanta Kumar Shrestha, among others, appealed to all ethnic groups, political parties and religious groups, to maintain social harmony.
