KATHMANDU: Normal life has been thrown out of gear in the districts of the Far-west region for a fourth consecutive day today due to the indefinite strike enforced by the Far-west Ekata Samaj and the Samyukta Lotantrik Paribesh.
Ekata Samaj and Paribesh have called on shutdown protesting the UCPN-Maoist’s proposal to divide some parts of Kanchanpur and Kailali and include them in Tharuwan federal state during the state reconstructing process.
Markets, businesses, educational institutions have downed their shutters.
Hundreds of passengers have been stranded in Mahendranagar and Dhangadi bus parks as the vehicles remained off the road.
Bandh enforcers have been demonstrating in Dhangadi, Attariya, Mahendranagar, Doti including other places in the morning and afternoon.
Demonstrators have even appealed to the general public to make the indefinite strike a success against the secession of the Far-West.
Meanwhile, bandh has been postponed today in the Kanchanpur district to prepare common agendas after organizing a round table conference with the stakeholders.
Life in the district has returned to normalcy after the postponement of the strike.
