Banke blaze destroys property worth millions

BANKE: Property worth millions of rupees was gutted in a fire that broke out at Jamunaha village of Matehiya VDC- 8 in Banke district on Tuesday evening.
A total of 145 houses and huts were destroyed in the fire. According to the District Police Office Banke, the fire destroyed the property worth Rs. 20 million.
It was very difficult to put out the fire since the village had almost only thatched-roof houses. The victims of the massive fire had to spend the night under the open sky near paddy fields.
The Nepal Red Cross Society distributed noodles and biscuits to the victims this morning. It is learnt that a team for the district administration office has already left for the fire-affected area for providing relief to the victims.
