SIMARA: Hosts Bara eased to a 3-0 win over Udaypur in the 14th National Ncell Women’s Football Championship here today.
Sapana Gole struck twice and Sapana Basnet added another for the hosts. Gole put Bara ahead when she scored from the edge of the area in the 14th minute. But Bara had to wait until 70th minute to double their lead. It was Gole yet again to score for Bara. Bara missed another goal scoring opportunity just after the restart when skipper Ganga wasted a penalty shot. Bara were awarded the spot kick when Astha Rai tripped Sapana Basnet inside the danger zone.
Except for Astha, whose shot was well saved by Bara custodian Asha Situola in the latter half, Udaypur hardly threatened the hosts. Basnet sealed the match by scoring the third goal in the 78th minute.
Udaypur coach Gyanendra Bantawa said his team played well below his expectation. Bara coach Dadhiram Pyakurel praised his team’s performance. “We won today but I was anticipating even better showing from my players,” added the Bara coach.
Kathmandu will take on Kanchanpur and Dhankuta will face Makwanpur on Monday in Simara.

Sapana opened the scoring early in the seventh minute and added the second a minute later. Amrita added the third in the 21st minute to make it 3-0 and Chhambu joined in the goal-scoring spree scoring first of her two goals in the 26th minute. Junita then struck twice in the 65th and 67th minute before Chhambu added more salts to the Surkhet’s wound with her second and the team’s ninth goal in the 81st minute. Kailali will take on Saptari on Monday.
